Write down both prices
Record the introductory monthly price, how long it lasts, and the ongoing monthly price. If the ongoing price is unclear, ask the provider before signing up.
Calculate a full year
For an illustrative offer of $65 a month for six months and $85 for the next six, the first-year cost is $900. That is an average of $75 a month. In the next year, twelve months at $85 would cost $1,020, assuming the price stays unchanged.

Compare the same service
Check the connection type, speed tier, typical evening performance, upload speed, and data allowance. A cheaper, slower plan is a different service. Think about simultaneous video calls, streaming, and the people using the connection.
Include one-off costs
Add setup, delivery, and modem costs. Read any modem repayment condition attached to leaving early. A welcome saving can shrink when these costs are included.
Check the practical switch
Ask about connection timing and expected downtime. Check whether you need to cancel your old service yourself. Keep your current service details available until the switch is confirmed.
Put the review date in your calendar
Before accepting a promotional offer, note when the ongoing price starts. Reviewing your options before that date gives you time to make a considered decision.
